But since the Russian missiles attacking western Ukraine weren't coming from Poland, why would Ukraine's defensive missiles be fired in that direction? Isn't possible that some of the Russian missiles presumed to be aimed at Ukraine were rigged to appear like S-300 missiles and aimed at Poland instead? Perhaps Russia wanted to test the resolve of NATO to consider an article 5 response and wanted also to sow some dissension among western allies and NATO is ignoring this possibility because it is not ready to consider direct military action at this time.

An S-300 that's positioned south of Lviv could easily be in a tail chase if the cruise missile targeting Lviv overflies the SAM or comes in from the East.
