I don't recall how I got roped into it but about 3 years ago, I was tricked/swindled/hoodwinked/volunteered into attending an academic decathlon that featured high school students and from the Central AZ region. There were a bunch of nicely dressed boys and girls walking around with index cards and looking into the glass (it gave a mirror like effect) and giving speeches to themselves.
Anyway, there was a presentation given by each team there and it was basically the same format for each topic; you give a topic (lowering the voting age to 15 for example) and you take a pro or con side and then you argue for or against basically by just getting up and opining. It wasn't a debate but you were judged by the panel on how well you articulated your points.
One junior World Leader got up there and began his presentation by almost precisely quoting a video I saw on you tube. It was about government withholding data for no reason which, to him, was both grounds for firing the people holding the information and he didn't think material should be classified. As you may expect there were some gasps from the audience and some chuckles as he rambled on about how one secret prevents you from ever trusting the government because you don't know what else is secret and so on. The presentation lasted a long time (or at least seemed to compared to the others) and as it went on, you saw him begin to sweat a little and get upset at the hecklers. Finally, he said something snide about "They laugh because they are ignorant." His teacher interrupted him, took him behind the little wall that was set up and the speech ended about 6.2 seconds later.
Senator Rubio reminds me of that angry little student.
You're going to stand up to Putin and ISIS?
