For me, Donald Trump is like pornography — he has no socially redeeming value.

IMHO it has more to do with the fact that everyone voting for trump is a closet submissive. They want to be dominated. They need someone to tell them what to do and when to do it. They are lost without a director of some sort. Fox and Breitbart and such have figured it out. You notice they don't provide information, they dispense directions. They tell the trump voters what their opinions are. It's why the Evangelicals are a natural fit. They've already been trained for decades to have no self will at all.

Trump is a demagogue who is feeding off the dissatisfaction of Americans who can feel they are being cheated.

The advantage a demagogue has is that the means by which people are cheated are complex, and demagogues simplify things for them.
