I think Ron Paul is a crack pot but he is absolutely right about the banking system we have in this country. The way I understand the banking system is that it is essential ran by a government monopoly of private bankers who decide lending rates. How do we know they are doing a good job if the public can't examine their books? They basically get to do anything they want with a very important part of the economy. I think if we are going to have a government controlled banking system then the public should at least be able to monitor what these people are doing with it.
