Everybody does, but Romney wasn't trying to build a case for raising taxes. And he sure as hell didn't imply that the gov't deserves the credit for their accomplishments in getting to the Olympics, let alone if they win a medal.

Ah so what Mitt was saying..was their success is a one way street. That they can use our tax dollars to train on tax payer funded facilities, and win a tax payer funded event, but, the profit they make from all that is entirely their own.

As is socializing liabilities and privatizing profit.

I don't think most of those kids make any profit, they bust their humps for years working and training and not many get much money out of it. A few do, and cash in with endorsements and so on, and they pay taxes on whatever they get. I'll bet the families of most of the athletes sacrificed quite a lot over a number of years, with little or no help from the gov't. So here's a suggestion: Shut the **** up.

In any case...Mike Phelps is already doing Subway commercials. And other olympic athletes have profitted handsomely from their efforts..and tax payer support.
