When I look at the global geo- political situation of the world today, I can look back in time, and appreciate the Richard M. Nixon doctrine. He wanted to keep the Communist in check during the Vietnam war in southeast Asia. Now we see how the Chinese Communist dealt with their own citizens in China, and we see what The Soviet Union is doing in the Ukraine. Nixon knew that fighting the Communist threat with extreme U.S. military force and power would send Communist all over the world a strong message. The message that freedom and Democratic loving people of the entire Earth, are willing to fight for the right to choose their government by Democratic vote. Not by Communist dictatorship, or by force by a select few. The global Communist threat still lingers, and wants to take over the entire Earth, by whatever means at their disposal. IMHO Nixon was a good president until the scandal broke.

He was not even a part of it...so he should have stayed out of it and let the chips fall.
