RFKjr should reduce SNAP benefits.

Me at age 11 (1951). Grew up poor and skinny but very healthy. Note that I was outdoors in the sun and fresh air, not sitting in front of a video game or television. However, a few years later when most had television outdoor activities declined greatly. I was even guilty of watching tv instead of being outdoors. However, I never got fat by doing so.

You are Jay North?

wen I was little and poor me and my family werent fat and bloated like todays poor people,,

Well they eat all the wrong things. Comfort food is mac and cheese, potato salad, cake, Ice cream, soda, cookies, and every form of pastry. You look at some shopping carts and that makes up 80 -90 % of the content. and then they stop for fast food on the way home. They dont have a chance.

Have you ever been hungry? Maybe no, but many are in this country.
Technically after spending tens of trillions of dollars on the Great Society this should not exist. Tell us.

I remember when the welfare stamps started and manipulated as I took trolleys to parochial school kids from public schools would go to Asian owned businesses and eat and drink sodas and snacks at the same time. 50 years ago. Tell us why kids are hungry.

The primary reason so many people in the USA are obese is because they listen to the corrupt government's dietary advice.

It is beyond stupidity to have the government tell anybody what constitutes a healthy diet.
Even those on SNAP know what a healthy diet is, they just don't need to follow it as the benefits allow all sorts of bad stuff, especially frozen dinners, a mainstay of the poor.

Damn you look exactly like my German Uncle, who would be same age as you basically. Seen pictures of him that looked just like you in that same era. I think that was the body standard back then

I'm German/Dutch/Norwegian. Hitler would have loved me.

Many of the 40 million or so SNAP recipients are overweight and notoriously sickly. RFKjr should reduce the monthly benefit by disallowing all unhealthy foods, snacks, and beverages. That will improve their health while reducing the budget.
I don't think you reduce they budget, you limit the kinds of food they can buy. #1, no soda. A full 10% of SNAP benefits goes to sugar water. $75M/year in NYC alone.

Twenty percent is spent on junk foods. USDA allows it because of the farm lobby.

Gonna hafta solve the food desert problems first.
The "food desert" is caused by the consumers, not the suppliers. They buy more Doritos than green beans, so the grocery store supplies Doritos rather than green beans. It's not rocket science.

Take Doritos off the menu and the grocery store will be stocking green beans.

Yes. And their deadbeat fathers who sell benefits for drugs.

SNAP benefits should be required to hold to a strict dietary limit that reduces or eliminates carbs and other poisons like high fructose corn syrup.
I think RFK Jr. will be taking care of that.

Unionization closed a great neighborhood food store that I used to work for. That created a food desert for lots of people in the neighborhood, plus a lot of people lost their jobs.

How did you come to those stupid conclusions?

Can you cite a few studies showing that freezing food makes it unhealthy and causes obesity?

It depends on which ones you buy, some of them are super high in sodium and corn syrup or just mainly starches, highly processed and with not enough vegetables to make it count.
If you stock up on the cheap ones and use them for your main diet its not going to end well. Simply freezing food, like say whatever you cooked at home, is not a problem.

Freezing food is simply a way to preserve it using cold temperatures. It does not make it unhealthy.

You also mentioned "cheap". Price is another factor that is irrelevant to nutrient content.
