I'm all for this as it will ensure that RFK takes more votes from Biden than Trump. Big tree hugging progressive. Was married to Google founder Sergey Brin.

My first thought is that she has no name recognition. She does appear to have some qualifications: She earned a bachelor's degree in Asian Studies, Economics, and Mandarin Chinese at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, and earned a Juris Doctor degree (a law degree) at Santa Clara University.

I'm not very impressed with this pick. Those center-right voters who are thinking about voting for RFK Jr. will probably frown on the fact that Shanahan supported Biden and donated to his campaign in 2020.

OTOH, I was pleased to learn that RFK Jr. supports securing our southern border and agrees that the open-border policy has been a disaster.

She was married the Sergey Brin of Google fame. Her marriage lasted 4 years, not exactly a ringing endorsement for anything.

I’m pleased for the very reason you’re not: she‘s liberal and will pull more votes from Biden than Trump, and the moderates who were considering voting for RFK are more likely to stick with Trump.

Excellent news!

Most of the $10 million that RFK Jr. raised through late last year (2023) came from voters who did not make any federal donations during the 2020 election.

Also, Kennedy's donations from people who donated in previous elections have been split fairly evenly between Republicans and Democrats. As of late last year, 2,100 donors had previously contributed to Republican candidates, while 1,700 donors had previously contributed to Democratic candidates.

How many conservatives who are summarily dismissing RFK Jr. know that he supports a federal ban on abortion after the first trimester, that he supports securing the border (including building the wall), that he admits that Biden's open-border policy has been a disaster, that he is strongly pro-Israeli, that he is strongly critical of Hamas and Hezbollah, and that he insists that any negotiated resolution of the Ukraine-Russia war must involve a complete withdrawal of Russian troops and a Russian guarantee of Ukraine's independence?

There's also a rumor that their divorce was because she had an affair with Elon Musk, but both she and Elon deny it.

It appears Kennedy mainly wants her as a funding source and an effective instrument to get him on the ballot in as many states as possible - if not all 50.

And if he achieves this in any fashion, I concur with the OP:

It's a disaster for Biden.

All of that is great, but his stance on student loans might just be even worse than Biden's.

At the end of the day, RFK is an admirable, authentic - BIG GOVT. socialist.

And the Right will not be supporting him.

We'll be voting Trump.

But not if he's a spoiler ;)
Sometimes I really don't understand this stuff. Surely he wants to win and not just be a spoiler. He had a one in a million shot at winning but if he picks a no name VP his chances are zero, which does make him a spoiler but, I don't think he went into this just to be a spoiler. But, we'll take it, right? Liz Cheney may be thinking about a spoiler run herself, although with Trump's huge popularity, I doubt she would siphon off enough votes to spoil it for Trump.

Bad choice if he really wants to win.
Looks like a replay of Ross Perot's dividing play, when he picked admiral Stockdale as his vp, guaranteeing not "to win" but pull votes" . Still a better ticket than the other 2. If Sirhan Oswald the 3rd takes out RFK it's a new/old ball game.
