Repubs are all about state's rights, until they aren't.

Here's hoping thousands of protesters show up in DC on Saturday. They are allowed to yell, and carry signs, and express their opposition to trump in ways that will anger him. If he doesn't like that, tough shit. This is still America for as long as we can hold on to it.

Un - American pen Terrorist Bugger 86 hiding -- but encouraging everything that good and decent people do not want .

Gavin Newsom reminds me of another Democrat Governor named George Wallace.

See post #10.
The 1807 Act has been modified twice. In 1861, a new section was added allowing the federal government to use the National Guard and armed forces against the will of the state government in the case of "rebellion against the authority of the government of the United States," in anticipation of continued unrest after the Civil War.

I am condemning States that have anti-US sovereignty "SANCTUARY" self-imposed "rules" that defy the Constitution and ENDANGER the American People.

Have illegals been arrested there? If so, there is no Sanctuary city.

If the Democrats hitch their wagon to Newsome they will lose again.
I'm not even thinking about that. Free and fair elections are probably over with Trump in the White House, anyway.

What's right is right and what's wrong is wrong. Trump is the worst thing to happen to this country since the Confederacy.

I understand that it all started long before Trump and I've noted for years that when you refuse to condemn "your guy" it will only get worse with the next.

Actually, it's really just a question of what is a good balance. State's rights are something that have gradually eroded away leaving Americans to FIGHT over national control on the federal level. The contrast between that and federal control is something which just needs to be brought back into balance. The federal government needs to be a capstone with limited power which is strong and absolute only in certain situations, and not assume false role as the omnipotent temple of all our laws and culture

What is happening in CA isn't an insurrection. What is happening is trump claiming justification for violating a states' sovereignty.

Consider the danger of putting the Military in a place where they have to act as cops,
Standing between citizens and ICE. Not sure that is a good idea.

The National guard has always been used as an extension of law enforcement during times of emergency.

Bass and Newsom are saying ICE should leave and not enforce valid federal laws.

They don't have to help, but they can't deny federal access.

It's an insurrection -

"a violent uprising against an authority or government."

Protests that in some cases devolve in to violence do not constitute "a violent uprising" or an insurrection.

In the ABC News clip, Trump tells George Stephanopoulos, “We have to go by the laws. We can’t move in the National Guard. I can call insurrection but there’s no reason to ever do that, even in a Portland case,” referring to the then-current Portland, Oregon protests over the murder of George Floyd.

‘We can’t call in the National Guard unless we’re requested by a governor,” Trump said at the time.
