Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) wants the GOP to focus on the future, in what could be seen as a subtle dig against former president Donald Trump ahead of his expected announcement next week of a 2024 run. Grassley wrote on Twitter, “Quit talking abt 2020,” and echoed Abraham Lincoln’s advice that “the true cure” for one election “is in the next election.”

We know that the congressional Republicans and politicos are well-aware of what Trump is, but they have chosen to sell their soul and play along. It's craven, but it's not really shocking. It's turning out that they'll be first to start peeling away, just to save their own skin. They're know what this actually is. MTG, of all freakin' people, holy crap, is the tip of that spear.

The last to peel away will be the type of people we see here. They haven't yet figured out that pro wrestling isn't real, that "reality TV" is largely scripted. While politicos have merely played a cynical game, the street MAGAs haven't yet realized what's going on. They've allowed themselves to look like fools, they've allowed their own damn families to splinter over this.
