Republicans the party of Liberalism since Lincoln.

Republicans have always been classical Liberals, and social Liberals.

Republicans in the age of Lincoln certainly were the more Liberal, by virtue of being Abolitionists.

That went by the wayside by the end of that century when they started taking on the water of the wealthy and the corporations while the Democrats absorbed the Populist party and movement.

Anyone who thinks political parties are some kind of fixed ideology that just stands there unmoving like a rock seriously needs a PoliSci class.

So no Shirley --- neither Republicans nor Democrats have "always" been anything.

Classical Liberals are not fans of huge powerful govts like establishment Republicans have been in this lifetime. And classical liberals are NOT "social conservatives" which the GOP has been for over 80 years...

You're WAY off on this...
