Just like refusing to fund security for Benghazi, Republicans refused to fund protective equipment for the next pandemic.

Barack Obama’s efforts to replenish America’s stockpile of protective equipment for healthcare workers were repeatedly blocked by Republican lawmakers, an investigation has found.

The investigation by ProPublica found requests for funding to purchase protective equipment and train medical staff to prepare for future outbreaks were denied by a Republican-controlled House of Representatives that was filled with Tea Party-affiliated politicians.

Present the bill without any pork and it'll be reconsidered.

Earlier this month he said he had “inherited a broken system.” He added: “They also gave us empty cupboards. The cupboard was bare … So we took over a stockpile with a cupboard that was bare.”

In fact, Mr Obama’s efforts to build up the stockpile and prepare for the next outbreak were stymied by a Republican-controlled House of Representatives that was heavily influenced by Tea Party-affiliated politicians elected on promises of cutting back government spending.

Speaking in 2014, Mr Obama argued it was necessary to set up a “public health infrastructure that we need to deal with potential outbreaks in the future.”

No human endeavor is ever without risk

by opening up the economy, we will risk a statistical anomaly of a coupla deaths here and there in order to restore the strongest economy in the history of the world. its the right thing to do, my friends

Maybe if the democrats were paying attention to the Chinese pandemic instead of only focusing on a failed impeachment attempt, the US response would have been better? then again, the democrats sided with the Chinese coverup.....nevermind.

Note to leftists:

Refusing to give money to Democrat special interest groups is not "refusing to fund protective equipment for the next pandemic".
Name the special interest that you are referring to, then back it up with a link. Let’s see if you can find that URL in your ass.
Not worth my time. Democrats don't do anything that doesn't benefit themselves or their cronies. Your acceptance is neither required nor expected.

Hell, not even Snopes believes that crap.

Former President Barack Obama's administration was to blame for the shortage of protective equipment like N95 respirator masks in the early months of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.

What's True
The U.S. federal stockpile of N95 protective face masks was largely depleted during the 2009 swine flu outbreak and was not restocked.

Valid point. As the Rep has passed the the Budget Control Act which mandated a bipartisan “super committee” find ways to cut discretionary spending or else trigger across-the-board cuts known as “sequestration" -- became law in August 2011 . In Obama budget cuts, there was specific references to the mandated Budget Control Act as to why funding was lower than in previous years.

fiscal 2013 budget, states that the "current fiscal climate necessitates scaling back" even though the SNS is a "key resource."

The Ebola and Zika virus outbreaks that occurred had OB admin seek additional money for replenishment by 2016. Congress approved but it was less than half of what OB admin was seeking.

Still it is correct that the CDC budget and the SNS has been going down since 2003 despite who was in power at the white house or congress.

Under Trump it has remain the same but he did ask for cuts that the Congress denied and kept it at the same level.

The interesting thing about it was that when the Recession hit and money was need to deal with that issue. The budget for the stockpile took a hit because of economics.

Now it is the pandemic that is causing economic problems It is like you can't win because if it is not something, it is something else.

If the leftist loons would stop stuffing things into these funding bills that have absolutely "nothing" to do with the Coronavirus, the bills would be quickly passed, rather than be rejected.
