This may be another canary in the coal mine moment for Republican politicians. The Wisconsin Farmers Union held an event in Chippewa Falls to discuss Trump’s actions with regards to farm policy, and the invited Republican politicians were a no show. No staff were there either. Four Democrats who were invited did show up at the meeting, so they got to listen to all the incoming financial pain that Wisconsin farmers face from the onslaught of Trumponomics.
My spidey sense tells me that the Republicans simply did not want to face the pain and possible wrath of the farmers.

Democrats who showed: U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Black Earth), state Sen. Jeff Smith (D-Eau Claire) and state Reps. Jodi Emerson (D-Eau Claire) and Christian Phelps (D-Eau Claire).

The list of No Show Republicans: U.S. Reps. Tom Tiffany and Derrick Van Orden, state Reps. Rob Sommerfeld (R-Bloomer), Treig Pronschinske (R-Mondovi) and Clint Moses (R-Mondovi) and state Sens. Jesse James (R-Thorp) and Rob Stafsholt (R-New Richmond).

No indication in the article how the farmers at this meeting voted in the last election. But the conditions outline above are probably very true of many other rural areas across the U.S. And seeing as Trump wants to cut SNAP, Medicaid, destroy USAID, impose tariffs, and deport the rural workforce, I’d say that these WI farmers are going to facing some extremely harsh realities very soon.

I'm sure they didn't show up. Maybe the farmers will show up at their offices.

Dailykooks?

Since when does a representative have a mandatory court date of a little farmers meeting in nowhereville WI?

Here's a quarter, call someone who cares.

If you only could read.

Why don't you answer the question?

Since when does a state representative have a mandatory court date of a little farmers meeting in nowhereville WI?

Republicans didn't crash the party of a leftard organization? I call that "good manners".

You should finish your pudding or no more for dinner.

Maybe dear leader should show up and explain how the farmers aren't getting fucked over

“I get that a member of Congress can’t be at every meeting all the time, all throughout their district,” Emerson said. With 19 counties in the 3rd District, “it’s a big area. But I hope that they’re hearing the stories of farmers and farm-adjacent businesses, even if they weren’t here. There’s something different to sit in this room and look out at all the farmers, and when one person’s talking, seeing the tears in everybody else’s eyes, and it wasn’t just the female farmers that were crying, the big tough guys, and I think that talks about how vulnerable they are right now, how scary it is for some of these folks.”

This was an astro turf operation.

Is that what you call it?

The farmer's union is a long standing Far Left outfit, and they were having a regular meeting for the local marxist politicians.

Then they gave Unvitations to local Republican politicians with every expectation that they wouldn't show up.

Astroturfing is the deceptive practice of hiding the sponsors of an orchestrated message or organization (e.g., political, economic, advertising, religious, or public relations) to make it appear as though it originates from, and is supported by, unsolicited grassroots participants.

Sounds like a union wants taxpayers' dollars handouts for green energy climate change nonsense.

And just like that filthy purple hair people care deeply about America’s food producers, the people they usually hate.

Farmers are also being hurt by Trump’s reckless, irresponsible, and illegal freezing of agriculture funds authorized by Congress.

Most of the time, the left doesn't care about rural Americans, calling them dumb and uneducated. But suddenly, by some sort of miracle, they care about them.
They absolutely HATE farmers…they are too heterosexual, too Christian, too white, too patriotic, too traditional, too law abiding, too America loving.

Well, maybe if they got off the Government teat it wouldn’t be such a horror for them. I don’t blame the Republicans for not showing up to listen to a bunch of takers whine that the Government waterfall is being turned off. It never should have been turned on in the first place.

Making excuses because those farmers are getting the shaft. How anti-American of you.

Not making excuses. Just pointing out the hypocrisy of people like you. Funny how you suddenly care about American farmers.
Where and when in this thread have I been a hypocrite? In detail explain it. No horseshit.
