Should this guy keep his job? Gutierrez Proposal Sets a Marker for Reform
On December 15, Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) introduced legislation to reform our immigration laws. The Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America’s Security and Prosperity Act (CIR ASAP) represents an important step in getting Congress to act to fix our broken immigration system next year. Below is a thumbnail sketch of the contents of the bill.

Legalization: The bill would legalize undocumented immigrants, provided they register with the government, pass a criminal background check, pay a fine, show they’ve paid their taxes, and learn English and U.S. civics. They would be allowed to adjust to permanent status after the current immigration visa backlog clears (estimated to be six years). Immigrants who would be covered by the DREAM Act and AgJOBS would be covered.

Gutierrez should have lost his job years ago! He ONLY works for the illegals of Illinois. Why do people keep voting in these losers???

The bill he is proposing is unrealistic as none of what is in it would/could be done. Who is going to do the background check of 20 million or more illegals??? Who is going to see that they pay the fine?? Who is going to check to see if they have paid their taxes?? Who is going to make sure they register in an english class as well as a civics class??? Who is going to clear the backlog of overstay visas??? Who for pete's sake is going to pay for all of this???????? Do these bozo's even know the astronomical number of illegals who walk among us??? I think not. They are living in another planet called WA.

The Government will. I'm guessing they will have to take certain tests on English and Civics to complete their citizenship which is actually a bright idea. It's at least a start and better than nothing. An LA study says legalizing undocumented workers would generate $1.5 Trillion. This is good for paying off our economy. I personally think we should have illegals get at least a GED or maybe even a 2-year education or simply joining our military to receive citizenship. That way we will have a new breed of bilingual intellectuals that will stimulate the economy in a positive way (especially if they pay taxes). There's no way we are going to simply deport every illegal immigrant in the U.S. That would be disastrous for their families and to the economy. What we can do to prevent more illegal immigrants from coming is focus on securing our border even better and crack down on employers that hire illegals to make good business.
