Again, Rand Paul written all over this, and this is a good move by Kushner if this is his position. Ask the beat cop what he thinks about tossing a kid in prison for a long stretch when he makes a mistake in life. Not all mistakes or people are equal. Don't equate all "criminals" with serial killers.

It's an expensive issue, and if you speak to many beat cops they will say there are far better uses of their resources and time than certain issues. I leave it at that.

REPORT: Trump To Hold Prison Reform Talks With Jared Kushner

President Donald Trump will set his sights on prison reform Thursday during a listening session with senior adviser Jared Kushner, who has been researching the subject for the past six months, Axios reported.

Jared Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump, have been staunch advocates of justice reform since President Donald Trump’s election. Kushner has taken the past six months to meet with experts and develop a plan to address mass incarceration, an issue of great importance to him due to the former incarceration of his father, Charles Kushner, Axios reported Wednesday.Standing opposed to Kushner’s goals, however, is Attorney General Jeff Sessions. If Kushner decides to press the issue, the two are likely to clash in the coming weeks as they lobby Donald Trump for support.

Kushner has already been meeting with a bipartisan group of Congressmen in an attempt to gauge support. Ivanka Trump and Kushner hosted a dinner meeting in October with staunch Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, along with Democratic Sens. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Dick Durbin of Illinois, and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island.

There had been somewhat of a bipartisan consensus on softening sentences and reducing jail populations under former President Barack Obama’s administration. It was only with the appointment of Sessions that cooperation began to falter, with some Republicans reverting toward Sessions’ “tough-on-crime” policies.

“My advice was very simple, you need to solve the problem of DOJ opposition, which puts everybody who wants this done in a very difficult position,” Whitehouse told the Associated Press in October. “And if the president wants this done, the attorney general reports to him, and he ought to be able to sort that out.”

However, many Republicans have proven willing to push back on Sessions. Lee and GOP Sen. Rand Paul have been extremely forward with a rejection of Sessions’ policy, writing a letter with Durbin and Democratic Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey in June calling on the attorney general to back off his push for higher mandatory minimum sentences.

Kushner has met with former inmates, faith leaders, and conservatives to draft up his proposal. Mark Holden, the general counsel for Koch Industries, which has long pushed for justice reform, said he was “impressed with Kushner’s passion,” according to Axios.

Jared's dad, Charles, was a crook and went to prison. So Jared's an expert at crime, ya know.

Jared's dad was one of the top Democratic donors in the country. All the big wheels in the Democratic Party had old Charlie on speed dial. That's probably why Trump likes Jared so much. Trump was a big Democratic donor, too.

Anyhoo, Charles embezzled a lot of money from the donor fund.

Here's the best part:

Charlie's sister was going to turn state's witness against her brother. She was going to bare all to the Feds. So what does Charlie do?

He pays some guys $25,000 to hire a hooker to seduce his sister's husband. And they do, and she does. The whole sex scene is caught on film and Charlie sends the video to his sister with a message that she will be publicly humiliated if she turns on him.

You know what Charlie's sister does? She turns the tape over to the feds! BWA-HA-HA-HA!

So Charlie goes off to prison.

Guess who the prosecutor of Jared's dad was.

Go ahead. Guess.

Trump and Kushner trying to reform prisons before they become inmates? Interesting...

Since they’re both going to prison they have a lot in common.

Did Kushner already solve the opioid crisis?
Did he negotiate peace in the Middle East already?

*Drum roll*

And the prosecutor of Jared Kushner's dad was...

*tears open envelope*

...Chris Christie!

And now you know why the fat man does not have a job in the Trump/Kushner Administration.

Jared will have a lot of free time now that he has brought peace to the Middle East.

In all seriousness, I would be pleased as punch if real and serious prison reform occurred, but you can bet the farm they'll be fighting Sessions the whole way.

Democratic Donor Receives Two-Year Prison Sentence

Charles Kushner, a multimillionaire real estate executive, philanthropist and one of the top Democratic donors in the country, was sentenced on Friday to two years in federal prison after pleading guilty to 18 counts of tax evasion, witness tampering and making illegal campaign donations.

After the sentencing, Mr. Christie said he was pleased.

My dad and I have some ideas on white collar prison reform.

You believe this is related to a family members issues? I don't think so at all.

Ask police agents what they think about particular sentences and if they make sense based on the crime. I watch Live PD and I see a few cops give a guy a break for certain things, they do so for a reason.

Some people need rehabilitation not just punishment that impacts so many, including the tax payer. With the right reforms, you would save billions, and, could have many more productive and motivated citizens in society.
