Trump specifically asked Comey to stay because he appreciated the way Comey T-boned the Clinton campaign 2 weeks before 2016 election day. Trump assumed Comey was doing him a favor for political reasons as opposed to Comey simply trying to do his job.
Ironically Trump's DOJ officially fired Comey for...wait for it...inappropriate T-boning of Clinton campaign.
Yes, without a doubt. Comey gave Trump the victory, the ultimate October surprise. It was extraordinary at the time. And you got to feel for Comey, I mean it is like ten years later, and we are all paying the price, even him, personally. He has to have PTSD, nightmares every night.
And maybe, like you said, maybe he was just trying to do his job. Which makes it all the more traumatic. I have had a long working career, and I got this cool collection of bankrupt company uniforms. Polo shirts, jackets. For many, well I was there. I saw it happen before my very eyes. Many times, but not all the time, it was brain drain. An entire generation, all the same age, working together to build a company from literally, the ground up. And they all retire, leave. I can tell you, a Fortune 500 company is not going to survive losing 500 years of experience in a single year, or even in two or three. I saw it happen time and time again.
Well now, it is happening in government. Yes, the AG, but the Defense Department, screw that Department of War shit, the EEOC, hell, the Forestry Service. NORAD, damn Hurricane season is coming. Yes, some layoffs, but many more just quitting in disgust. The thing is, that bathtub is full of water, and that government is currently being dragged into the bathroom. The four horsemen await on the horizon.
