Rep. Greg Walden speaks to congress about Fed overreach in Harney Co.

Short story as I understand it is, most ranches are 160 acres per original federal land grants back in the 1800s. A ranch requires a much larger acreage to be viable, so federal leasing of land has been a long standing practice. Between the Bureau of Land Services property and National Forest land a rancher must work with the government in order to make a living. The government has been withholding these lease and running people out of business. Then the land is purchased for the BLS.
