Over the years, I have heard stories of people finding revolutionary ways to fuel cars for dirt cheap, only to have them "disappear" shortly afterwards. I have heard at least 5 such stories.
And then there is this light bulb made around the year 1900.

Yea, they could make more of them but they refuse cuz there is simply too much money to be made not to do so.

I would be flabbergasted if the government and all the bureaucratic red tape would even begin to allow proper excavation and, if they did, transparency regarding their findings

It's just what they do as everyone needs a hobby.
But it is not just about hiding facts regarding affordable energy so they can charge us whatever they want at any time for our energy needs, it is also about hiding the past that the pyramids are probably far older than what we were taught, and probably not built by the Egyptians.
They had technology to build those pyramids they simply should never have had, using tools that we cannot fathom or find.
The pyramids may as well be locked in a hanger at Wright Patterson Air force base. Luckily for them, most of it is hidden underground.
You can take the position that "aliens" were involved or go the route that the Book of Enoch was correct, that we had "beings" come from above who crossed the material/spiritual dimension to come down to earth to cohabitate with man, much like Christ did. Either truth would be unsettling to the power that be, because it would be an open admission that there are powers above them, with intellect greater than their own. That would erode the cult like followings government have created all around the world for various political parties.
