USMB has a rule regarding data mining. It reads as follows:

  • Data mining is not allowed. You may not disclose any personal information about other members. Name, e-mail, phone number, address, occupation, pictures, quotes, etc. that has NOT first been posted here at USMB by the member themselves (include link). This includes links to sites that contain said personal information.
I'm posting this reminder because some of you seem to have forgotten it. When caught, you WILL NOT be given a chance to "explain" yourself before being given a temp ban. When you come back from your ban, I do NOT want to hear any excuses because there are none for being stupid enough to dig up info on someone and posting it on this forum. Understood?

yes mam....

It might be right hard to find a link to a member who has stated something personal in the past that you might mention in a post.

I suspect that could happen and the OP not even be aware he/she crossed some line.

I suspect there are a few posters with nothing better to do than try and find others personal information, you have to be careful with what you share, if you trust someone, then share personal information in private using a PM.

When one moderator actively participates in a thread, why would another mod close it? You guys in same page or randomly independent?

Mods generally do not like to "moderate" a thread they are actively participating in as a forum member. If an infraction is bad enough, we will, but otherwise, we let another mod handle it.

I have had instances where mods active in a thread thanked me for a post only to have the mod who always stalked me infract and thread ban me for it.

So your avatar says code word for OREGON. Can I say you are from Oregon? Will that get me banned? Utah Mac comes to mind. He said it, I did not invent either of your locations.

Just don't pronounce it "or i gone" like Danny does and you will be fine.

You were participating in mine about multiple screen names and someone else , I presume, closed it

One exception is the Coffee Shop. I love having mods both participate there and help moderate it to keep it for its original intent. Both Kat (RIP) and Coyote have been our angels in that regard and I miss them both. But others of you have also helped out on the rare occasions we have been troll invaded and needed help.

That is one place where people probably share more personal information than they do other places, but we strongly discourage sharing information that would allow somebody to actually be able to contact somebody. For instance a couple of us live in Albuquerque and don't hide that fact. But with a half million people here, good luck on somebody finding our actual name, address or phone number. :)

It's a wonderful rule and I appreciate the mods prohibiting any form of DOXXING here.
