You know well you encountered posters who believe you support Mahmood. I don't believe that is true. Was he carrying our constitution or his constitution?

Is that how you see the Constitution?
Thank our founders for the Constitution. It is a long document. We notice the way it is constructed. First to lay out how the Federal Government and officers will operate. Clearly the document is designed to be protected by citizens as well as Government.
It was not designed so foreign students could attend a university and block students from entering their own building. Blocking the students building is not approved by the Constitution but there is far worse. Those supporting Hamas entered the Campus building and was destroying it. It was left finally in shambles. Should leaders of such a group escape justice? Mahmood is now being processed with attorneys working for him. I believe pro bono since I know nothing of his finances. When I studied law in College, the professors fondly told us it is a matter for the courts to decide. It is highly unlikely readers here were trained in law in college other than me for sure.

Mahmood is in stage one of the protection by the Constitution. Stage 2 is when he is in court hearing charges and pleading for his benefit. Stage 3 past discovery and representation by attorneys will be the Feds producing evidence and citizens listening to this and deciding the end phase. If found guilty, and that is not positive, the sentence phase takes place.

Yes, permanent residents, also known as green card holders, are protected by the U.S. Constitution, including rights like due process and equal protection under the law.
This is the stage Mahmood now is in. His protection is happening as we write about this. He has attorneys working for him who know the law very well.

So far he is not deported. So far he has not been found guilty. He is among other prisoners in the same stages who happen to be citizens.

The UK has already fallen.
They are under the control of people that support terrorist groups, so of course they don't believe in freedom of speech.

Twitter is considered a threat to the UK because they think it's okay to lock someone up for posts on social media that they don't agree with.
Do you want that kind of thought police action to come to the United States? Because if you keep supporting people like Mahmoud Khalil, who don't believe in freedom of speech unless they can take advantage of it, pretty soon you'll be hearing your door getting kicked in for something rational and legal you posted on social media that a fascist government doesn't agree with.

Was he living here or Syria?
Was he a citizen here or Syria.

Our country has the right to stop immigrants or students coming here from hostile govts.

In WWII we derained Japanese and Germans. Big difference in war or areas who are a security threat to our Nation.

Canada….plenty of freedom…..as long as one behaves like an iron filing in a magnetic field.

We have two posters, both whose avi’s begin with “D” who love to criticize America and Americans, yet come from a nation that opposes free speech.

“Justin Trudeau blames Putin invading Ukraine on Democracies NOT being ANTI-Free Speech enough. No, really. It’s amazing.” “Countries allowing increasing misinformation and disinformation to be shared on social media.” Justin Trudeau blames Putin invading Ukraine on Democracies NOT being ANTI-Free Speech enough. A Summary of President Trump’s Immigration-Related Executive Orders – Jackson Walker

On January 20 and 21, 2025, President Trump declared a national emergency and issued several executive orders on immigration. The Declaration and Executive Orders address “enhanced vetting” of visa applicants, birthright citizenship, border security, the U.S.‑Mexico-Canada Agreement, asylum, and refugee program. Here is a summary of some of the Executive Orders and their potential impact on employers and foreign nationals.

Now, President Trump has promised that the Federal Government will:
  • o Protect the civil rights of our Jewish citizens: “My promise to Jewish Americans is this: With your vote, I will be your defender, your protector, and I will be the best friend Jewish Americans have ever had in the White House.”
  • o Aggressively enforce the law, protect public order, and prosecute anti-Semitic crimes: “I will issue clear orders to my Attorney General to aggressively prosecute terroristic threats, arson, vandalism and violence against American Jews.”
  • o Deport Hamas Sympathizers and Revoke Student Visas: “To all the resident aliens who joined in the pro-jihadist protests, we put you on notice: come 2025, we will find you, and we will deport you. I will also quickly cancel the student visas of all Hamas sympathizers on college campuses, which have been infested with radicalism like never before.”

I hope I'm wrong but I get the feeling that this particular story is just the beginning. People on this thread really need to be careful what they wish for. I'm sure what I'm about to say is going to ruffle a lot of feathers but I think many here are looking at this in the way you've been conditioned to look at it... And in an emotional way. Instead of the way PoliticalChic has been looking at it, in a bigger picture, constitution / liberty-minded way.

Right now it's this particular guy, who you guys don't like. But any time you give the government more power, as opposed to defending the constitution and liberties whether you like the person in question or not... it sets a precedent. It empowers the government and gradually disempowers we the people. Then it keeps happening, but the part that many here aren't thinking about is that in the future it's not going to happen only to people you dislike or disagree with politically. Eventually it's going to come back around and bite you and all of us in the derriére, to put it politely. I think that point was made earlier by someone, but it bears repeating.

And it's not going to be restricted to immigration-related cases. Because I don't think this is about immigration at all. And it's not even only about free speech. What I see happening in the bigger picture is the same thing the government has been doing for years, no matter who is president....a slow but sure attack on all of our constitutional rights, freedom and privacy.

And the way they get away with it though manipulative, underhanded tactics like Problem - Reaction - Solution, which gets people to cheer for what is going on and eagerly hand over their freedom and rights. It's the trick the founders warned us about... trading liberty for "security." But it's not a true security, because that's never the true purpose, that's just a way they get people to willingly hand over our most cherished rights. I could give specific examples if I wanted to, but this post is getting long. And also I don't want to take PC's thread too off topic. So that's all. I'll step down from the soap box now. ha

The message does not specify which policies the two groups, Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace, violated, but it says the groups held “an unauthorized event Thursday afternoon that proceeded despite warnings and included threatening rhetoric and intimidation.”

Great if you don't care for the Constitution.
No, sweetie, I was born in Montana.

I'm about as American as you can get.

Having served in the military I also understand what freedom of speech means.
It doesn't mean come to America and do whatever the hell you want, including threatening our people and making life miserable for everyone around you.
I used to hold a TS security clearance when I was on active-duty, and if I had done what this guy did, I would have been court marshaled and charged with subversion.
I don't believe in cutting foreigners any slack.
If they don't like America, they can hit the road and sell it somewhere else.
I was in the military when Iran took our diplomats hostage in 1979, and some guys like Mahmood tried protesting at UCLA and got the shit kicked out of them.

Obviously anyone who actually committed crimes should be charged, convicted and do the time. I don't think anyone here has argued otherwise. But it should be done in the right way, truthfully and according to the constitution.

Unless you want to live in an Orwellian world where The Thought Police will punish you for having the wrong ideas, any ideas that go against Big Brother. Because that's where things appear to be heading, iyam.
