Economists must have told Trump the reality that tariffs on Canada and Mexico would stoke inflation in the US, so he panicked and called for a 1-month pause.
For those nervous about inflation, relax. He will continue to do pause after pause so he doesn't have to implement the tariffs, which all economists agree will raise prices in the US.
After a few pauses he may even say that "after careful consideration, I don't like tariffs after all".
