Rejoice! Making Automobiles Great Again

CAFE standards, or Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards, are regulations in the United States aimed at improving the average fuel economy of cars and light trucks to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

A major greenhouse gas and creator of smog is ozone. Another is nitrous oxides. Many of the CAFE standards involve those gases. However, doesn't really matter, as that will be very short lived. As the MAGAts and Trump by this midterm will have created their own demise. And, by 2030, the majority of new vehicles even in the US will be EV's.

Right. Nothing about pollution standards.

Many of the CAFE standards involve those gases.

Prove it.

And, by 2030, the majority of new vehicles even in the US will be EV's.

How many new nuclear reactors will we need in your EV utopia?

I happen to like EVS so long as they are fueled by Hydrogen and take moments to refuel.

I don't know. I ride with enough senior citizens that probably shouldn't be driving now that I rather like that feature. :) (I agree that you should be able to buy a car without it if you don't want it though.)
It's hard on engines, and wears out batteries.

Maybe so. But that doesn't change the fact it's probably a good feature for some senior citizens or others who may have slower reaction times than younger people.

Read a story in the current issue of Reader's Digest in which a car with a teenage driver had inadvertently accelerated to extreme speeds and he was unable to do anything to slow or stop it. The police positioned a car in front of the teenager's car with intent to use it as a brake. Speeds exceeded 100 mph at this point so it was an exceedingly dangerous maneuver. Unexpectedly the automatic stop kicked in as the two car got close--slowed the speeds to about 50 mph so the collision was less extreme and the police vehicle was able to bring the two cars to a full stop.

(It didn't say how they got the teenager's car turned off but they probably cut the fuel line or something.)

I read that this feature was scheduled to be mandatory in all vehicles I think in 2029? That kind of regulation is probably one the Trump administration will scrap though. I do hope it remains an option for cars in which the owners want it.

I think many on both sides of the aisle are happy that the attack on ICE vehicles has been scrapped. The few that are upset, you're welcome to continue wasting money on EV's.

Says some dumb fucktard who has probably never used half the tools this old millwright with 56 years experience has. Transportations use of ICE engines is a major factor in the present and future environmental disasters.
That’s odd because I see them as having improved the standard of living.

The new Aluminum Ion battery is exciting and lowers prices for a EV. At last the battery takes you 1000 miles and recharges in 5 minutes. Tesla has cut auto prices with that battery. And there is no fire danger.

Tariffs are now officially at their highest in 100 years. That will impact both direct imports and shoot up raw materials pricing.
not what the manufacturers said. post where they stated they will pass them on.

BTW, are you saying that car prices didn't go up under xiden? prove it.

They have to. selling a good at a net loss per unit is generally considered an ideal method to go bankrupt quickly.
You would know that if you had some sort of education.

Tesla has a 1000 mile range for a battery that charges in 5 minutes?
Are you sure? Link?

I want an all-analog truck with an 8-foot bed. Okay, it can have electronic ignition, but that's it.

One cannot dump that much energy into a battery that fast. :nono:
