Of that small percentage only a fraction were sent to the Colonies. We're talking several hundred thousand cultivated into millions. Few slaves at the start of the Civil War were from Africa. In fact most were several generations removed.

they were probably also mixed with aegean. Today places like IRAQ and SYRIA ----are sorta
considered remnants of Mesopotamia-----(I think) -----having been over run by the minons

Whites bought the small percentage of African slaves who made it to North America and treated them way better than the Jews did who owned the plantations of the Caribbean and South America. Then white Christians in Europe and North America, for the first time in history, cast slavery in moral terms, declared its immorality, outlawed it for the first time in history, then fought a bloody war with each other to end the immoral treatment of members of another race. Again, first time in history. Then whites took this large population of an exceedingly different people and at enormous cost and enormous effort, embraced this very different race and made them political equals, and equal under the law, also the first time in history. Moreover, whites actually passed laws against themselves to ensure that the former slaves were represented in industry, education, the government, in numbers proportionate to their population. First time in history. Then we taxed ourselves to provide food, shelter and education for large segments of the members of this extremely different race ,,, first time in history. And after all that, we get you. It makes me wonder whether we were wrong from the beginning.

I do not believe it is FAIR to say that black slaves in the USA were "better off" than slaves
elsewhere. The situation VARIED widely

Trust me--they were better off. There were much much worse places to be generally speaking. Sad but true. Slaves on the caribean islands and in south america were treated far far far worse off--the lucky ones being sold into slavery--were sent to the US. Likewise, slaves in the US were better off than slaves in Africa who were treated worse or killed if they couldn't be sold. If you were going to be a slave, you generally were better off in the US. I am not saying that slavery was good----just that if you were a slave--the US was better than other places.
