Reagan Hits The Wall

……. Long before the Wall came down physically, an American president had inflicted the fatal blow when he used the one thing Communism never could deal with: the truth, spoken aloud and publicly.
That president’s name was Ronald Reagan, who sealed the Wall’s fate when he went to Berlin and issued his famous call: “Mr. Gorbahev, tear down this wall.” Even for him it hadn’t started there.
Early on in his presidency he had told a friend his strategy for the Cold War: “We win, and they lose.” [...]
So as the world marks this wonderful victory for freedom, let no one make the mistake of speaking of the “fall of the Berlin Wall.”
The Berlin Wall came down because it was pulled down.

The Whitewashing of Ronald Reagan

Did Reagan end the Cold War? Immediately after the Berlin Wall fell, a USA Today survey found that only 14% of respondents believed that. Historians mostly credit forty years of “Containment” by eight U.S. presidents. As Tony Judt’s Postwar concluded: “…Washington did not ‘bring down’ Communism – Communism imploded of its own accord.

How Republicans created the myth of Ronald Reagan

With the Gipper's reputation flagging after Clinton, neoconservatives launched a stealthy campaign to remake him as a "great" president.

The myth of Ronald Reagan was already looming in the spring of 1997 — when a highly popular President Bill Clinton was launching his second-term, pre-Monica Lewinsky, and the Republican brand seemed at low ebb. But what neoconservative activist Grover Norquist and his allies proposed that spring was virtually unheard of — an active, mapped-out, audacious campaign to spread a distorted vision of Reagan’s legacy across America.

The below-average rating by the historians for Reagan, coming right on the heels of Clintons’ easy reelection victory, was a wake-up call for these people who came to Washington in the 1980s as the shock troops of a revolution and now saw everything slipping away.

Everybody in the world was so happy when Berlin Wall fell down and it became possible for Germans from both sides to live in the same country. Look what's going on now with Russians in Eastern Ukraine, separated from their motherland Russia 24 years ago when the USSR collapsed. As soon as they demanded their right to speak, to write and to be educated in the Russian language, official Kiev started calling them separatists and terrorists, started all-out war on them and the whole world is supporting it. Where is the common sense???

The world is not fooled. Every time a settlement comes on the horizon Putin sends in new reinforcements of Russian mercenaries and soldiers with military hardware that includes artillery and tanks. Shooting down a civilian airliner did not help the situation either. The war in Ukraine is not viewed by the world as a civil war, it is viewed as an invasion by Russia.

You are a victim of either Western or Ukrainian media (basically - same thing). You have no clue what's really going on there, you have never seen a Russian tank there, have you? You don't have ANY proves of the Russian tanks presence in Eastern Ukraine except for YouTube pictures. And there were no facts and proves presented to the world about who shot Malaysian Boeing, because when when the facts will be released to the public it will be "Game Over" for official Kiev. So, please, stop repeating what you Media says, just use your head and think who controls the Media and why. FYI, the people of Eastern Ukraine, who feel robbed with their Motherland after the USSR collapsed, would be happy to see Putin helping them to come back to their one and only Motherland Russia (just like Germans were happy to get their motherland united), unfortunately he has not helped them yet. And if Putin comes to Eastern Ukraine, he has all the rights to protect Russians there from fascist Kiev, but when Biden and other official Americans show up there it raises a lot of questions. It's not their business, they should stay the heck away of Ukraine (by the way Biden is coming there on November, 21, last time he was sitting in the President's chair and instructing Kiev how to kill the Russians in the East).

There is an abundance of proof that Russia is supporting the separatist with military hardware. Far more than just Youtube videos. For example, hulks of destroyed T-72's have been left where they were destroyed in Ukraine, specifically, BM and B1 variants that are not and have never been in the Ukraine inventory. They have never been exported by Russia and are exclusive to the Russian military. Troops have also been captured and nobody believes they were "lost" and wandered into Ukraine by mistake. Sorry, no one believes that nonsense.

FYI, OSCE is monitoring the border between Russia and Ukraine for several months. A tank is not a fly, it can't be unnoticed. And again, just for you: if Putin helps the ethnic Russians in Ukraine in their fight with Nazi Kiev, he will be right, but when official Americans come and support fascism in Ukraine, they become partners in crime. Period.

A referendum on the Act of Declaration of Independence was held in Ukraine on 1 December 1991 A majority of 92.3% of voters approved the declaration of independence made by the Verkhovna Rada on 24 August 1991.

Voters were asked "Do you support the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine?" The text of the Declaration was included as a preamble to the question. The referendum was called by the Parliament of Ukraine to confirm the Act of Independence, which was adopted by the Parliament on 24 August 1991. Citizens of Ukraine expressed overwhelming support for independence. In the referendum, 31,891,742 registered voters (or 84.18% of the electorate) took part, and among them 28,804,071 (or 92.3%) voted "Yes".

New poll shows eastern Ukraine’s separatists are wrong

But according to a new poll by the Pew Global Attitudes Project, a vast majority of those living in Ukraine -- both in the restive east and more nationalist west -- want the country's borders to remain the same, despite the many political and social tensions that have come to the surface in recent months.

Only 18 percent of those surveyed in eastern Ukraine think the country's regions should be allowed to secede -- a statistic that serves as something of a rebuke to Pushilin and his fellow separatists.

Yes....and they expanded into, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and latin America under those 8 Presidents....communism was fine as long as they didn't have to worry about the U.S. standing up to them...once someone did....then they came apart....

American Progressives can't handle the truth either

The people of Eastern Europe have statutes honoring Ronald Reagan. They acknowledge their Liberator

What I love most about Reagan is how he still drives hard core Communist supporters absolutely batshit crazy even to this day

Ukraine basically consists of 2 parts: Western and Eastern. Western leans to Europe and Eastern leans to Russia by history, mentality, language, religion, roots, etc. So, the polls depend a lot on the area of questioning. In spring 2014 all the Eastern cities (including the ones, where the war is now) demanded a referendum (like in Scotland, by the way) to show the real numbers who wants to be with whom and in which borders. Would not it be a democratic right for the people??? But instead of the referendum official Kiev called them ""separatists" and started an all-out war against them with full support of "the main spreaders of democracy" USA and Europe. Question: how would USA and Europe react if England did the same to the Scottish people, when they demanded their referendum? It's called politics of double standards. And you people have been only told the information which is in favor for Obama, but it's a very little bit of the whole iceberg.

The photos are real, unfortunately.... And yesterday 2 teenagers were buried in Eastern Ukraine (Donbass area), they were killed with a Ukrainian mine last week (5 more seriously wounded).Ukrainians tried to blame "separatists" like they always do, however OSCE confirmed: the mine came from NW, where the Ukrainian troops are located (civilians are killed every day in Donbass). All that would not happen if the world did not support the Ukrainian fascist tactics and genocide of ethnic Russians. If you were happy for Germans' reunion, be honest and help ethnic Russians in Ukraine to reunite with their stolen motherland...
