Ready for the 1 Dollar Trump Coin?

.

If they mint it in gold, yeah.

Well, either way, I'll buy as soon as it's offered, but I think it would sell better if they stamped "Thank you, Orange Man" on the obverse.

.
Sorry, can't see spending $250 for idol worship. I like what Trump is doing, but he's still a politician.

And you don't have to, that's the beauty of America.
Absolutely. The only point I've made here is that Trump is stirring the pot. New coinage has laws that govern it and this Trump coin is DOA. BTW, if you want Trump coins, you can purchase all you want from the WH gift shop. They aren't legal tender though. Here's the link.

I've shown you the law. You showed me a tweet. Take your pick. Hide and watch for when that coin with Trump's image on it appears. SMFH.

The law you posted only applies to $1 presidential coins. The Trump coin is a 2026 commemorative coin. The law you posted is irrelevant.

Similarly, Section 5114 applies to currency. It is also irrelevant.

.

If they're minting it as bullion, it's an investment.

If it's just going to be a commemorative, you're absolutely right.

.
Correct. BTW, I posted the WH gift shop site for Blisterfinger. They have quite a few different Trump commemorative coin/medals for sale. I don't think they have any precious metal content though.

You can bandy tweets around all day.
Congress has not officially approved the design of a U.S. 250th anniversary coin featuring Donald Trump's image, as the Treasury Department is still considering the proposal and a final design has not yet been selected. However, there is ongoing controversy regarding the legality of depicting a living person on U.S. currency due to an 1866 law.

I've been confused all along, whether it's going to be tender, bullion or a commemorative. Thanks for clarifying.

.

It's complicated. Concerned American has trouble with it, and he's smart. Took me a while to figure out...

Here is 5112...

See, it only applies to the $1 Presidential coins which are not minted until at least two years after death. Jimmy Carter does not have his yet!

Section 5114 is more straightforward. It applies to currency.

Commemoratives are legal tender. Bullion is not. The US mint doesn't sell bullion directly to the public but they do mint them and distribute them through third parties. This 250th coin will come about--it just won't have Trump's image on it.

Still confused, but I'll survive.

Thanks.
