Frank A. DeMartini – WTC victim. Architect and WTC Construction Manager, North Tower, 88th floor. Demartini first worked at the World Trade Center when Leslie E. Robertson Associates hired him to assess damage from the terrorist truck bombing in 1993.
Video interview 1/25/01: "The [Twin Tower] building was designed to have a fully loaded 707 crash into it. That was the largest plane at the time. I believe that the building probably could sustain multiple impacts of jetliners because this structure is like the mosquito netting on your screen door. This intense grid * and the jet-plane is just a pencil puncturing that screen netting. It really does nothing to the screen netting."
Editor's note: The Boeing 767-200s that impacted the Twin Towers on 9/11 were only slightly larger than 707s and DC 8s, the types of jetliners whose impacts the World Trade Center's designers anticipated. The maximum takeoff weight of the 707 is 15% less than the 767.

Although these reports vary in details, and in some cases contradict one another, what we finally have is the Official Story, quoted verbatim by the US media: the impact of commercial aircraft, and the ensuing fire caused by aircraft fuel led to the collapse of WTC 1 and 2, the North and South World Trade Center Towers, on September 11 2001. The truth of the Official Story has never been proven, but has been implicitly assumed by all of the "Official" investigation reports."

Careful scrutiny of video of the collapse of the South Tower (WTC2) shows the upper segment (above the airplane strike) listing, then dropping, then disintegrating or pulverizing. There was a massive explosion near ground level immediately before those events. Using only common sense and reflection, the tilt-then-drop sequence shows the building's central structural steel core (including stairwells, elevator shafts, utility conduits, etc., and mainly, 47 thick-walled 2'X4' box section steel columns) had by some agency been made insubstantial and unable to bear weight. Putting that together with the ground level blast and the subsequent pulverization it is clear very powerful explosives had to have been in play. The airplane strike was a mere smokescreen.
Understanding the mechanism of the collapse leads to additional important questions. Who planted the explosives? What kind of explosives were used? When were they planted? And for what reasons would someone destroy not only the Twin Towers, but all the buildings in the World Trade Center?
Simple logic requires of a credible account of the Sept. 11 events that it explain ALL details clearly shown in documentary footage, together with all other known facts e.g. that alleged ring-leader Mohamed Atta had been identified by the Department of Defense antiterrorist program known as Able Danger more than a year prior to 9/11. The Official Story does not even come close to meeting that standard."
