The judge was angry. She had ordered a detained immigrant to be released in Minnesota, but instead he was let go in El Paso, where he had to spend the night in a shelter. All his property was supposed to have been returned, but the government was still holding his identity papers.

“Why should I not hold you in contempt?” the judge asked a Justice Department lawyer at a hearing last week. Instead of answers, she got excuses.

• The budget (Big Ugly Bill) was a disaster, adding $3T in deficit to give companies and wealthy a tax break with minimal to no middle and working class impact.
• The dismantling of safety and firing of experts in the federal government making Americans less safe at no savings
• No plan for healthcare other than dismantling anything that is helping anyone
• Dismantling the Department of Education, eliminate Head Start, and cut Title I funding which will negatively affect low-income children and students with disabilities
