Any food improved by the flavor of ranch is not a food I’d seek out.

It's the semen of condiments that low testosterone men enjoy.

  • Steve Henson, the creator of ranch dressing, was working as a plumber and cook in Alaska in the 1950s. The remote location and limited food options made meals repetitive and unappetizing.

    • Experimentation in the Kitchen:
Henson experimented with different ingredients to create a flavorful dressing that would appeal to the construction workers. He combined buttermilk, mayonnaise, and a blend of herbs and spices to create what would become ranch dressing.
    • Popularity and Expansion:
The dressing was a hit with the workers, who enjoyed it on everything from salads to meat. Henson and his wife later purchased a ranch in California, which they renamed Hidden Valley Ranch.
    • Commercialization:
The dressing became so popular at their ranch that they began selling it in jars. In 1954, they partnered with Clorox to distribute the bottled dressing commercially.

I'm old school.............I prefer ketchup as my main condement. Mainly because I just love anything tomatoes.

Mustard is my next choice for condement.

But I do use Ranch instead of Mayo on sandwiches. For some reason plain Mayo doesn't sit well with me, but if it's mixed into something else, I don't seem to have any issues, unless I eat too much.

For me, there was only one place where ranch was better on their wings than BC, and that joint no longer exists...Otherwise, I agree: ranch is gawdawful.

At the joint where I used to bartend, customers slathered that white sludge over more things than ketchup.

It was invented for people who don’t like salad.

And, for that, it’s up there with Penicillin, Fire, and The Internet.
I second what you say here about salad. I can't eat one without dressing and ranch is the only dressing that I eat.

God bless you always!!!

Holly (a girl who is allergic to Penicillin)

P.S. "Ranch dressing is for people who do not like food." I disagree. I love food and ranch both so much that I have been dieting again for the last year. I weighed in at 202 yesterday and before I started dieting again last year, I was as much as 265.

Some of the young folk dunk slices of pizza into ranch.

When I was doing the single dad thing with my sons, one of our more favorite snacks (or meal sides), like after school, was dipping fresh broccoli florets (and peeled stalks) into a homemade Ranch dressing that used yogurt and/or sour cream to make it thick.

I don't dip my Greek Veggie pizza into anything. It would ruin the oven-baked flavor of the baked artichokes sitting all over the crust.

Now, I'm getting hungry, lol. Time to go to bed!!!

Just sayin - a LOT of people here use dark mode, your dark purple type is pretty much unreadable.

I usually have dark mode on everything, even at work.

But on here it doesn't seem to work too well, so I don't use it on here.

Just interesting you mentioned that.

Only use ranch (the good stuff) for onion rings, it has almost no value for anything else except maybe on carrots or broccoli as a dip if there's no blue cheese.
Sounds like you are describing dollar store ranch dressing that's gooey -yuck.
When I was young my family always had miracle whip and I hated that stuff.
I ALWAYS used oil on hoagies, but Roastbeef or steak sandwich hoagies I use Mayo. As i got older, I started putting mayo on roastbeef hoagies because mustard only made sense on heated roastbeef on kaiser rolls sandwiches.
One bite of a Publix roastbeef hoagie with cheese that had mayo and I was hooked.
With cheese always used mustard as I never had the taste for mayo and cheese combined, but mustard doesn't go with lettuce onions tomatoes and oregano so most Hoagies I use oil.

1. Miracle Whip is only good on turkey sammiches. Otherwise it is awful.

2. Ranch dressing is nasty. I much prefer bleu cheese if I am going creamy, but I really have no problem eating salad with no dressing or salt. Just a little black pepper from the grinder is tasty enough for me.
