P.S. My father’s family never DID hear from his grandmother, aunt, or four cousins. They were all killed. Still, with this knowledge of the virrulent antisemitism in the world, he buckled down, won his college tuition (as did my uncle), and graduated at the top of his class.

You didn’t answer my question: Do blacks themselves share any of the blame?

Even if everything you say is true, a young black man or woman full of anger and resentment will likely view such efforts as white guilt pandering and they will resent it. This is why I say that only blacks will be able to change their situation.

Another aspect to this is that the mindset of many inner city blacks is that any successful black person who tells them to quit playing victim and make better life choices will be viewed as an Uncle Tom or a sellout. Just ask IM2.

Unfortunately, they don’t want to hear “pick yourself up by the bootstraps”, they want to hear confirmation of their own perspective that it’s the white man’s fault. Until that changes, nothing else will change.

There is a grain of truth to that insofar as they could do more to fight against the racism that created the situation in the first place. If a person is in therapy due to an abusive parent at some point that person has to take affirmative steps to overcome the effects of the abuse.
People like the author of one of the studies blaming the victims of abuse are not unique in the black community. If they have been able to succeed in a racist culture like ours they sometimes look down on fellow black people for not being able to do the same. Not recognizing all people aren't born with the same degree of personal strength, intelligence, opportunity, and good fortune.

While I will grant that there is racism in this country, I don’t believe it is as extensive or as pervasive as many make it out to be. Not anymore anyway. And racism will not cause black-on-black crime anyway. It certainly cannot be blamed for the total disregard some of these gangbangers have for innocent bystanders.

In the end, murder is always a choice. At some point, blaming racism just seems specious and unrealistic and suggests they don’t know right from wrong.

After slavery was abolished some people in positions of power, especially in the Deep South, but even in the north and elsewhere, tried to stop black people from progressing. We know it happened.

We can see in Detroit that black people got jobs, but were never allowed to get the good jobs.

They were put in areas where poor people were and education was poor and opportunities were difficult.

HOWEVER a democracy needs to protect itself. A party that stands for things that go against the principles of democracy, should be banned. Whether the AfD meets those critera or not will be up to the German people.

But then look at the US where there's a two party system. They wouldn't need to ban the AfD because the two parties keep such a stranglehold on the system, that there basically is no democracy.

Just because you win an election, doesn't mean you're not a criminal (Trump, for example).

The German government labeled AfD as extremist, which, under their system, has the potential to ban them as a party They made a successful legal appeal, but the fact that they had to do that in the first place is hardly "democratic." And winning the appeal does not rule out a potential ban in the future. In effect, the German government has the latitude to silence certain political opinions.

AfD isn't advocating the end of elections. They just want to stop the ridiculous levels of migration there.

We have a democratic system here, but it is a duopoly to an extent. That's still quite different from threatening to ban a party.

Of course the guy in Romania didn't become president. He wasn't allowed to at the last minute. It would have been different if they had arrested him months before the election. They waited until it looked like he would win to make their move. That makes it pretty obvious that they had to make a hail Mary effort to stop him.
