The Aussies have been suffering enough. Quick, steal some more e-mails and send them to Australia. I am sure that will alleviate the situation.
November 2009 southeastern Australia heat wave - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The November 2009 southeastern Australia heat wave is a heat wave currently occurring in the southeastern Australian states of South Australia, Victoria and southern New South Wales. Daily maximum temperatures during the heat wave have been roughly 10 °C (18 °F) above average in many locations. Capital cities Adelaide and Melbourne, have recorded temperatures over 35 °C (95 °F), and some regional towns recording temperatures above 40 °C (104 °F).[2] Above average temperatures in the region began in late October and are still persisting as of 16 November 2009.
Many locations through the region have broken temperature records for November. This November heat wave is the second heat wave experienced in the region within a 10 month period, the earlier being the 2009 southeastern Australia heat wave in January and February 2009, to which 374 deaths have been attributed. Whilst this first heat wave was far more intense, the more recent November heat wave has been more extensive and long lasting.
El Nino is a warming of the Pacific Ocean waters. Right now it's in a moderate phase likely to head to strong. This would explain why Australia is warming.
By the way, where were you all hurricane season? This was the most pathetic Atlantic hurricane season of all time in terms of strength of storms.
There are several areas of our planet that are warmer than average right now. There are also several areas of our planet that are cooler than average. What there is very little of, is areas of our planet that are just "average." This is because when the "average" system was setup, it was created to give an idea of where the temperatures are around that time. What they didn't know was that during that time, there might have been a solar cycle, a ENSO cycle, a PDO, NAO, PNA, MJO, etc. etc. etc. cycle that had been influencing their readings, thus in effect, several other things would be impacting the weather other than this supposed "warming that is taking place." The whole idea of weather "averages" is completely stupid, imo. If you're going to have weather averages, have them during an analog year. For instance, the overall weather pattern of the planet Earth today is very similar to 1976 and 2002. 1977 was a brutally cold winter and 2003 was a brutally snowy winter. Where were our temperatures during that time and how close to then are they now?
Answer: NEARLY IDENTICAL.
Thus if we have the same weather patterns from over 30 years ago that we have today, a -NAO, a +PDO, a moderate El Nino during the last week of November along with the MJO in a phase 6, and our temperatures today are nearly identical, within a degree or two F, then that is proof positive that we are NOT warming.
But if we take a year, say 2005, the warmest year on record and compare it to 1996, we'll be very close because of those years we have neutral ENSO's, raging +NAO, and other factors that made our weather warm. If the NAO is negative and we're hitting 100 degrees in NYC, then there's global warming.
But until you, Old Rocks, take a few courses in meteorology, you're going to be stuck in YOUR same weather pattern of repeating that the Earth is warming while using tampered with evidence to further your theories. You aren't doing any science by yourself to prove it.
, cool and the areas that cool, warm. In effect, the Earth balances itself.
