After being sworn into his second term on January 20, 2025, President Donald Trump issued a sweeping proclamation that granted pardons or commutations to nearly every person charged or convicted in connection with the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Scope of the pardons

• No distinction for violent crimes: The clemency did not distinguish between those who engaged in violence and those with non-violent offenses. It included individuals who assaulted police officers during the riot.

Different Americans have different perspectives, life experiences and priorities. Roughly half the country doesn't think like you do. It doesn't make them wrong, it just makes them different than you.

I prefer an American government that functions with communication, collaboration and innovation (the way our Constitution was created). That way, far more Americans have skin in the game, and the weaker party is not trying to sabotage the stronger party.

And I believe in decency, honesty, intelligence and maturity from our leaders. That is the "substance" that I prefer. I believe that thinking that one's tribe has all the answers is egotistical, shallow and counter-productive. Unfortunately, there appear to be fewer and fewer who think like that. That's the way it goes, I guess.

I prefer a bikini clad model serving me breakfast but the Democratic Party has changed. Long gone are the days when they cooperated. Now they use media with 24/7 hate speech to rile up their tribal members.

That's a great sentiment, I remain hopeful for the long term, but we've lost so much respect and trust globally that our first task will be to just get back to Square One. We just finished pissing 80 years of global leadership away in a matter of weeks.

It will take at least two election cycles, as well. They watched us to see where we'd go after Biden, they gave us every chance to return to legitimate world leadership, they were hopeful, and now they just want to disconnect as fast as they can. It will take a while for them too, and they know they have to make nice in the interim.

We have been a patsy for 80 years, costing us massive amounts of money that we can no longer afford.
