FBI Agents don't pick which files to work on. They are ASSIGNED files. The agents that were fired didn't pick choose to investigate Trump.

I think they usually choose "he's innocent" as their method of denial. If he was he should have welcomed the investigation. But the agents who were fired contributed evidence to Smith's irrefutable indictment showing Don committed multiple crimes.
