Question I keep pondering...

A WW2 atomic bomb had a yield of 10-20 megatons. The average thermo-nuclear weapon today has a yield of 3500 megatons. The atomic bomb is a fission bomb, a thermo-nuclear bomb is a fusion bomb. HUGE difference.

It is a ludicrous thought to use one. On what? A town of 10,000 people?

Using a nuclear weapon today would greenlight every other country that has them to use them to 'settle things'. By the way Iran has no capability for a thermo-nuclear weapon and will not thanks to the treaty just signed. Contrary to propaganda otherwise.
They also will never use even an atomic weapon because they are aware that if they did it would only take four or five modern nukes to depopulate that entire country for the next 25,000 years, and they know Israel has such weapons. Not to mention the US would also take action if a city in Israel were nuked.

IsiL and other groups like them on the other hand WOULD use an atomic or nuclear weapon as soon as they had it in their hands. They are not sane, do not expect sane actions from them. This is one of the reasons we have to go back in their with an army and clean it out and leave 50,000 troops their maybe for the next 25 years or longer. Like in Korea.

But let's remain in reality regarding using these weapons shall we. We are still in the era of conventional forces, of which ours will make quick work of anyone in their way.

I would be surprised if the CIA didn't have a plan on standby to use it (nuclear weapon) in Iran or North Korea where its detonation looks like an accident on their part at a nuclear facility.
