Depends on the viscosity of the shake. To me either a spoon thick one or a straw thin one is still a shake.

It's like the difference between roasted and braised chicken, it's still chicken.

Depends on of it's got cookies in it and shit like that. Otherwise it's just thick chocolate milk.

Real ice cream I use a spoon to eat it, if it's a mix I use a straw for drinking.

I go for relatively thick so you have to have the bigger (paper) straw, but do not have to eat with a spoon.

This tutorial doesnt directly address your concerns..... however in spirit, it brings much to light.
My suggestion would be to neither use spoon or straw. You would be better served in removing the
shake lid and using the G.F.T.
