Whether he says it in public or not, Barack Obama silently laments the fact that Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid successfully derailed the Obama Presidency with the passage of ACA without one single Republican vote. The end of the Obama tenure started in November 2010, not January 2016.

Was Obama complicit in his own downfall? Absolutely. But he willingly sacrificed leadership by letting Reid/Pelosi intransigence derail the remainder of his Presidency. That was a choice he made, and there's no doubt in my mind that he silently wishes that ACA was never passed to begin with. It simply was not worth 6 years of failure out of an 8 year Presidency for this classic narcissist.
