It is a valid point. Putin's death will likely lead to a less secure and politicaly strong leader replacing him.

It is unlikely though that this leader would want to give up all the land that the russian forces have taken in ukraine.


It would be a good time to cut a deal, where the new leader could blame any... negative news on Putin.
