It's not like Russia will return to the immediate post-Soviet mindset of the early-to-mid 1990s...

Russia has no tradition (nor collective understanding) of popular self-governance...

In their (collective) mind they are tragically dependent upon the Strong Man du Jour to tell them what to do...

If they ever discover their intellectual and political courage and set up self-governance the world will be a better place...
