Alaska offered a wide range of natural resources, that was a good decision.
Hawaii offered a strategic location and tourism, that was a good decision.

Puerto Rico offers what?

We don't even have a U.S. naval base in Puerto Rico anymore AFAIK, and certainly don't need one. And most of the people there hate America for various reasons. We should grant Puerto Rico independence or give it back to Spain.

won't happen because the GOP doesn't want 2 more Democratic Senators and 8 more Democratic Congressmen.

When you consider the sordid and shameful history of the Democratic party, no sane person would want that.
