It doesn't have anything to offer. The median income there is about 1/3 the average in America, and less than 1/2 of our worst state.
Indeed, it's population has been in decline for10 years. As it's declining economic opportunities grow...so does the number of people leaving. Which means the Islands best and brightest are likely already living in the U.S.
I can't think if a single positive impact it would have on America.

For Statehood, what it didn't do was offer a modification of the current situation, which one of the larger parties wanted.

I cant find it, my Google fu is weak today.

I used wikipedia as a reference.

Puerto Rico is a welfare state that offer nothing to us and should just stay as it is.

I understand that the People on the Island would like to be welcome into Statehood but it is a century to late for that.

I say it is past time to let PR go.
It's economy is heavily subsidized by you and I. PR has an annual GDP of $105bn...without you and I providing literally boatloads of cash to the tune of $85 billion per year...they would be far-far-far poorer than even Cuba. Cuba would be rich compared to PR without U.S. aid.
Indeed PR's employment rate is 37%. Almost half that of America.
