Psaki Mocked After Announcing Biden’s Plan To Place 500,000 Tesla Charging Stations In ‘Disadvantaged Communities’

The main problem for electric vehicles is their ability to hold power in the cold months, especially in the dead of winter. The batteries drain quickly.
There needs to be an infrastructure built around hydrogen filling stations and promoting hydrogen vehicles. The cold doesn't affect them like it does electrical vehicles and hydrogen vehicle mileage is equal to that of gas vehicles and last, it's much cheaper than gas.
There is one thing that proponents fail to mention regarding hydrogen vehicles. Where do you get the hydrogen? Answer: hydrocarbons. So why not just use gasoline?

Well, someone pocketed a shit load of money off this deal. That's the only reason they would ever do that is some city planning commissioner is pocketing some cash along with a bunch of others.

Yeah put Tesla stations in areas where the average vehicle value is probably like 1000 dollars or less, at the most.

Atleast it will make a good place for thugs to hang out and wait for someone to mug.

With todays tech and integration, a thief can have the electric self driving vehicle pick them up, drive them to the owners house, unlock the front door and turn off the alarm from remote location in the car, have the slow cooker warm up to have a nice roast ready for them, have same day Amazon deliver food items ordered from the computerized refridge restock function,
And set the room temps just the way and comfort the thief likes by time he gets there.

People in disadvantaged communities own Teslas? Why are Tesla owners in disadvantaged communities?

Just how much is public assistance paying these days?

Its good to plan for the future. Its really good to also have the environmental considerations get put front and center.

Biden's administration has been a nice surprise in lots of ways. This is a modest success to be sure. Tesla was advertising a vehicle for $25K a while back.

This woman is the worst, and the biggest liar we have ever seen as press secretary.

White House spokesperson Jen Psaki announced Monday that the Biden administration is drafting plans to place half a million electric vehicle charging stations in “rural and disadvantaged communities,” and also apparently hopes to run fleets of tens of thousands of “electric school buses” in inner cities. The announcement has been met with incredulity and a fair of mockery online.

“People across the country, people who care deeply about addressing our climate crisis, know the components of what are in this package, which the President considers a down payment, not the end, a down payment,” Psaki said, adding, “So, five hundred thousand electric vehicle charging stations nationwide, that’s what this would help support, with a focus on our highways and on rural and disadvantaged communities.” Psaki also claimed the Biden administration wants to buy “thirty-five thousand electric schoolbuses.”

Critics were quick to point out that while electric vehicle charging stations already do exist in many “disadvantaged communities,” they have not been particularly well-received.
...

Psaki did not specify whose vehicles would be charged at the charging stations located in disadvantaged communities. The average consumer cost for a new electric vehicle, or EV, remains high, well above the average yearly income of many poor jurisdictions.

Car And Driver magazine reported in 2020 that the average cost for an EV remained over $19,000 more than its gasoline counterpart, at $55,600.

These people are so completely clueless it hurts.

No need to replace fossil fuels in the first place.
This is about control.
True enough. But energy demand will only increase in the coming decades. A new source of fuel will be neccessary in the future. There is nothing wrong with laying the groundwork for that now. If for no other reason than to keep pushing for technological advances.

The market will determine that. You can’t force it. As soon as someone finds something better than fossil fuels, AGW BS or not, it will prevail.
