Police in Texas say they’re noticing a new crime trend called "jugging."

'Jugging' is among the fastest growing crimes in America, police say (TND)

Jugging happens mostly at banks, where suspects follow customers back to their homes before robbing them. There have been 82 cases reported this year in Austin.

Police there say they're mainly seeing women, the elderly and those who are petite or small in stature being targeted.

An estimated $590,000 have been stolen, according to police.

The following are tips to avoid becoming a victim:

  1. Take note of anyone that is hanging around in the lobby of the bank or parking lot that does not appear immediately occupied.
  2. Try not to be distracted while in the financial institution-ie: on your phone, earbuds, etc.
  3. Notice any vehicles that may follow you out of the parking lot and ensure you are not being followed.
  4. Before leaving the counter after receiving cash, secure it in a different bag (other than the small zipper cash bags or envelopes utilized), such as a briefcase or purse.
  5. Lock your car doors when you get into your vehicle.
  6. Do not leave large amounts of money inside of your vehicle.
  7. If you believe you have been followed from a financial institution for any length of time, please call 911 or drive to the nearest police station or fire/EMS station.
  8. Speak with security at your bank to see if they can assist you with large withdrawals or if they have any safety suggestions when withdrawing a significant amount of cash.

More concealed carry and situational awareness would solve that problem. A "jugger" would find himself on a deserted dirt road and shot in the face if they wanted to play that shit in my neck of the woods.

I swear, I look at some people and they just have "victim" written all over them....They do stupid shit like leaving their vehicle running whilst going into a Stop-N-Rob. You see it every day.

I never seem to have that problem, since I dress like a hoodlum anyway. :laughing0301:

Good idea. Get them in an isolated spot then give them the cure,

This was happening in Dallas about 20 years ago.
They follow a victim home and pull in behind them in their driveway.
In one case the victim told the robbers that he had some more money in the house and that he would go inside and bring them back some more money.
He came back out and open fire, killing one of them.
Darwin was right.

A woman in my town was robbed of her casino winnings at her front door. The thug had followed her to the parking lot, didn’t rob her there because of security cameras, and followed her all the way home - about 50 miles away.

Who goes to the bank anymore?

I haven't seen the inside of My bank it three years.

Lol, where do the come up with these names? Strange name for it. Lol, it would be funny if they tried that on me. I live on what they call charter captain row. Just about every one here are professional out doors men. Lots of hooks, knives and guns here. That would be the very essence of ducking around and finding out.

Yep, communication with this younger generation is getting more difficult every day. Half the time I don't know what they are talking about. I guess my parents and grandparents went through the same thing. Just as long as I know when dinner time is it will all be ok.
