"Tragedy and waste" compared to what?
The unwillingly pregnant woman who chooses abortion is doing so because she does not want children. The real tragedy would be to enter motherhood when it is something she does not want, for both her and the child. The real waste is the 9 months of pregnancy followed by the lifelong responsibility of parenthood when it is not her value.
The only context in which abortion becomes tragedy is if she is willingly pregnant but has to terminate it for medical reasons.
