I have many friends and family members overseas. To a person, they're looking at us in almost the same way:

On one hand, they're worried about us and sorry for us as they see their own history play out in real time. But on the other hand, they're angry and exasperated with us for voting him back in. "How could so many Americans fall for this, don't they see what this is?", they keep asking. And I have no doubt it's worse for them knowing it will affect them, too.

I have to just tell them that America isn't what we thought it was. We thought it was better than this. Smarter and savvier than this. Shit, we just ASSUMED it. For one thing, our world history education sure has clearly failed us. And obviously we're really super impressed by showbiz, pugilism 'n volume 'n stuff.

Will we get our respect and credibility back? Hopefully, yeah, but it's not going to be soon.
