Prepare to pay more at the pumps, thanks to trump's tafiffs

i am used to paying high prices....living in cal and nevada gets you used to that....

Leave it to the man that clams to be the smartest human alive. He is just eat up with Common Sense. He does not have to listen to economist or scientist or doctors...cause he has common sense. Get ready to pay more at the pump and for a multitude of other items.
You didn't have a problem with Biden's high gas prices. You made heart eyes at him.

Didn’t Trump run on the promise of bringing down prices on day one?
I believe he also said he was going to lower interest rates. I still have yet to hear how he plans on accomplishing that.
Like the whole bringing down prices thing (gonna be tough to do with imposing tariffs), I suspect it's just red meat for the faithful.

Why weren't all of you Democrat bedwetters going crazy when Biden refused to remove Trump's tariffs in 2021? :dunno:
The economy isn't that simple. Tariffs are meant to make imports more expensive, and thereby spur domestic production.
Removing those tariffs would have suddenly make importing cheaper than domestic manufacturing, and thus cause the re-collapse of domestic industries.

Example, if widgets cost $2 to manufacture in the US, and China sells them for $1.50 then importers buy them from China and pretty soon through market share, the domestic manufacturer of widgets (at $2) goes bankrupt, or makes something else..

If you put a tariff of 50% on Chinese widgets before the domestic market shuts down, they will continue to sell their $2 cheaper than the now $2.25 Chinese widgets.

Removing the tariff just recreates the original problem with Chinese widgets at $1.50 and American widgets at $2, and the American manufacturers going belly up again.

Production is going to ramp up so we can refill our strategic national oil reserves and within a year or less we will feel less pain at the pump...
The sad part is repairing all the damage Biden did is going to take time and more debt....

Anyone who voted for Trump is MORE than pleased with what he has accomplished in his first week in office. And he is putting policies in place now that will bring prices and inflation down.
How is enacting 25% tariffs against two of our largest trading partners going to bring prices and inflation down?

Why?
We'll have to pay more for oil imported from Canada for one.
And even if we don't buy from Canada, the world oil market shift drives up prices as the markets vie to make up for short term disruptions.

The United States produces light crude oil, but its refineries can process heavier crude oil. The U.S. imports heavier crude oil to meet its refining needs

Rising prices mean something to you now?

Why didn't they for the last 4 years? Why the sudden change of heart? (as if we didn't know)
Because Trump promised gasoline would go DOWN to $1.99

Think of it like being promised a Thanksgiving meal, with turkey and all the trimmings. And instead getting tuna casserole.
