Prediction, Hegseth doesn't make it to the confirmation process.....if there is one.

I made the prediction based on the comments of Repub senators after the nomination, expressing skepticism about confirming Pete, and then the revelations of his immoral/incompetent behavior that followed. My mistake was not misjudging whether he is qualified (he's not), it was misjudging the degree to which Repub senators care. It was, admittedly, naive of me to think they'd put the country before Dear Leader's desire to have a pliable weekend anchor on Don's favorite source of propaganda named to a vital post.
That's a strange way to say, "I like the taste of crow, thank you very much." LOL, enjoy the next four years, I predict you'll be eating much more crow.

Pete Hegseth’s Secret History

Hegseth’s record before becoming a full-time Fox News TV host, in 2017, raises additional questions about his suitability to run the world’s largest and most lethal military force. A trail of documents, corroborated by the accounts of former colleagues, indicates that Hegseth was forced to step down by both of the two nonprofit advocacy groups that he ran—Veterans for Freedom and Concerned Veterans for America—in the face of serious allegations of financial mismanagement, sexual impropriety, and personal misconduct.

A previously undisclosed whistle-blower report on Hegseth’s tenure as the president of Concerned Veterans for America, from 2013 until 2016, describes him as being repeatedly intoxicated while acting in his official capacity—to the point of needing to be carried out of the organization’s events. The detailed seven-page report—which was compiled by multiple former C.V.A. employees and sent to the organization’s senior management in February, 2015—states that, at one point, Hegseth had to be restrained while drunk from joining the dancers on the stage of a Louisiana strip club, where he had brought his team. The report also says that Hegseth, who was married at the time, and other members of his management team sexually pursued the organization’s female staffers, whom they divided into two groups—the “party girls” and the “not party girls.” In addition, the report asserts that, under Hegseth’s leadership, the organization became a hostile workplace that ignored serious accusations of impropriety, including an allegation made by a female employee that another employee on Hegseth’s staff had attempted to sexually assault her at the Louisiana strip club. In a separate letter of complaint, which was sent to the organization in late 2015, a different former employee described Hegseth being at a bar in the early-morning hours of May 29, 2015, while on an official tour through Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, drunkenly chanting “Kill All Muslims! Kill All Muslims!”

In response to questions from this magazine, Tim Parlatore, a lawyer for Hegseth, replied with the following statement, which he said came from “an advisor” to Hegseth: “We’re not going to comment on outlandish claims laundered through The New Yorker by a petty and jealous disgruntled former associate of Mr. Hegseth’s. Get back to us when you try your first attempt at actual journalism.”

When taken in combination with the e-mail Pete's mom sent him, calling him out for his lack of character, is this the hill trump wants to die on.

If I'm Hegseth, I don't think I want to sit thru confirmation hearings answering questions about public drunkenness and sexual misconduct. Not to mention being replaced from leadership positions far, far less consequential than DoD.

It's been reported Team trump was surprised when it learned about the rape allegation. Hegseth's, not trump's. I imagine this too comes as unwelcome news they weren't aware of. Does Baby Donald dig in? Does Pete ask to be dismissed? I can't see this nomination going anywhere but away. Then again, Schlitz Kavanaugh sits on the SC bench so.............

The colossally unqualified candidate Don chose to run the DoD, who's exceptional abilities saw him rise to the level of weekend anchor on a cable news station known for inveterately spewing disinformation, will be the new Sec. of Defense. The pinnacle of his prior executive experience being bankrupting a far right veterans org with a staff of 10 employees. The DoD has 3.4M.

Now that the deed is done we need to examine who is responsible for this unfolding calamity. I contend when you put a flying monkey in charge the result you get is seeing him do the things flying monkeys do. Like nominate Hegseth, RFK, Tulsi Gabbard, and Kash Patel to run key agencies for reasons having nothing to do with competence. Or put partisan demands on a state experiencing a terrible natural disaster in order for it to receive federal relief funds routinely given to all states with no strings attached.

“But it is the nature of stars to cross, and never was Shakespeare more wrong than when he has Cassius note, ‘The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars / But in ourselves.”

Actually, Shakespeare got that one right. In the case of djt, I submit he can't be blamed for doing things that appear designed to harm the country. It was to be expected.

The blame falls on the people who put him in a position to do so.

I really have no words for this TDS malarkey. What year is this of that?
10 consecutive years of TDS-dripping shit OPs just like the above, with no sign of slowing down, even.
Keep it up, midterms are not long away.

Most incompetent pick in American history.

WEI era.
That is generally accepted. Even among Repubs. They just can't admit it out loud.

If Hegseth's vote was taken by secret ballot, so Repub senators could vote their conscience, not out of fear, does any lucid human really think he would have been confirmed?

It is noticeable that there are many people who transition from the political side to the television side and vice versa quite seamlessly for some reason.

Would you care to give some examples of talking heads on politically oriented cable news shows who have transitioned to non-elected government jobs.
