Pope gives Palestinians boost of support

The Palestinians are his people, at least 10% of them as they are about 10% of the worldwide Palestinian population and 8% in the West Bank.

If, according to your own estimates, 92% of Palestinians are Muslim, that's the overwhelming majority. And even the few Palestinians that are Christian, most likely belong to the Orthodox, and not the Catholic, Church.

On his way from the Presidential Palace in Bethlehem to Manger Square, Pope Francis asked the driver of his Popemobile to stop, then went down and stood beneath an Israeli watchtower. In a move no pope has ever done, Pope Francis reached out and touched the metres-high concrete barrier.

Pope Francis lay his forehead on a section filled with graffiti saying "Free Palestine" and "Bethelehem look like Warsaw Ghetto."
The Pope seems to show partiality toward the Arab Palestinians. Also, the Vatican still does not recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

In accordance with diplomatic protocol, upon arrival to Israel on Sunday, Pope Francis gave a short speech, as did his hosts, President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

There was genuine warmth and friendship, but their concise speeches also revealed the ongoing profound differences between Israel and the Vatican.

Netanyahu opened up with the words: "Welcome to our land, the Land of Israel, the Holy Land."

Not anymore after the arab muslims ethnically cleansed them from the are, leaving less than1% in the whole of Palestine. Of them very few are Roman Catholics, if any now.

First of all, you as usual lie, 8% of the West Bank Palestinians are Christian.

"They are approximately 8% of the West Bank population"

Secondly, it was the Jews that ethnically cleansed the Christians from Palestine.

Thirdly, the Pope is concerned with all Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, whether they like it or not.

"The pope is the bishop of the Church of Rome, Italy. Because of the importance of Rome, Tradition recognizes the pope as the supreme pastor of all Christians."

Agreed.

During the course of that particular sortie.

However, and in general...

The Pope played it right down the middle during his visit.

Not showing any particular bias or preference towards either side in the conflict.

He laid flowers at the tomb of Herzl, prayed at The Wall, and left a parchment with a prayer tucked into a crack.

He condemned the Holocaust and anti-Semitism in the strongest possible terms, and kissed the hands of Holocaust survivors, and prayed with them.

Count on the Palestinian propaganda shills and Useful Idiots to try to pitch this as a One-Sided event.

Clowns.

He should be more concerned about the oppression of Christians in the " Palestenian " Area. The majority of Palestinians are NOT Christian.

Palestinians are also Christians and are equally oppressed as the Muslim Palestinians by the Jews.

"
I am a Palestinian Christian, now a U.S. citizen, and my own experience and that of my family attest to the falsity of Ambassador Oren's assertion. I was born in East Jerusalem, Jordan in 1952, only a few years after my family and the majority of Palestinians fled from their homes when the newly established Jewish state took over three-quarters of historical Palestine. My family, like almost all the other Palestinians who fled -- Christians and Muslims alike -- became refugees, losing their fields, orchards, homes and practically everything else, to Israel. Israel defied the international consensus and a U.N. resolution calling on it to allow the Palestinian refugees to return. "

Ya, it's the Jews in the ME that are oppressing the Christians

I swear, pro Palestinians have got to be the most deluded, out of touch with the world people. I've never met a pro Palestinian who wasn't full of shit.

There are Jews and there are Muslims that are persecuting Christians in the Middle East. It is you that is full of crap.

Every time a Pope makes a meaningless visit to Israel and the Palestinians, both sides spin it as if he said something in favor of them. Truth is no Pope has really said or done anything different that what has been said in the past. Nor will it change the dynamics or momentum of anything on the ground.

Muslims happen to also be killing and terrorizing Christians, MOHOMOD.

Israel protects Christians from Islamist Neanderthal savages. Get it right, convert.

Here is the truth from a reliable source

As a result of Al Nakba in 1948, Al Naksa in 1967 and many other wars on the Palestinian people, the majority of Palestinian Christians have been forced to flee and seek refuge in neighbouring countries and abroad. To put this in numbers, before 1922, the total percentage of Christians living within the borders of the Palestinian territory was 4% but in 2005, it was estimated that the percentage of Palestinian Christians living in the Palestinian territories has dropped down to from 3.4% to 2.1%.

That was the population figures for 2005 and they are even lower now

Why Christians are leaving occupied Palestine

From a different source:

At the time of the creation of the Israeli state in 1948, it is estimated that the Christians of Palestine numbered some 350,000. Almost 20 percent of the total population at the time, they constituted a vibrant and ancient community; their forbears had listened to St. Peter in Jerusalem as he preached at the first Pentecost. Yet Zionist doctrine held that Palestine was “a land without a people for a people without a land.” Of the 750,000 Palestinians that were forced from their homes in 1948, some 50,000 were Christians—7 percent of the total number of refugees and 35 percent of the total number of Christians living in Palestine at the time.

In the process of “Judaizing” Palestine, numerous convents, hospices, seminaries, and churches were either destroyed or cleared of their Christian owners and custodians. In one of the most spectacular attacks on a Christian target, on May 17, 1948, the Armenian Orthodox Patriarchate was shelled with about 100 mortar rounds—launched by Zionist forces from the already occupied monastery of the Benedictine Fathers on Mount Zion. The bombardment also damaged St. Jacob’s Convent, the Archangel’s Convent, and their appended churches, their two elementary and seminary schools, as well as their libraries, killing eight people and wounding 120.

Ever thought that if they had not joined forces with the arab muslims in trying to wipe the Jews out they might have saved themselves. This is what happens when you follow Islamic terrorism, you get burnt

Two thirds of the refugees were made so before the Arab intervention so NO they did not join the fighting, none of the refugees did and that is why they have the legal right of return to their homes.

All they need now is the muscle to make it happen, and they're all set.

There's no frigging way they're going to get it.

One would think that they (and their supporters) would have gotten that through their thick skulls after 66 years.

Then again, with people who make as many bad decisions year after year as the Palestinians do, perhaps 66 years isn't long enough for that to sink-in, after all.

My bad.

They're better off packing-up and leaving for greener pastures, to build new lives elsewhere.

'Cause they ain't goin' back.

As usual, the crap these terrorist worshippers spew couldn't be the furthest thing from the truth. Israel is a haven for Christians suffering the intolerant Muslim barbarians in the region. :clap2:

The arab intervention started back in the 7C when Mohamed made it a command to KILL THE JEWS. It lasted right up until Israel said enough is enough and placed them all under house arrest. How many Palestinians do you think were involved in the Hebron massacre of 1929, well before the "arab intervention"

Wonderin' if the Muslim took down the anti-Christian sign they put up in Nazareth several months back durin' the Pope's visit? You know the one. The billboard erected in Nazareth, Israel, by Muslims warning Christians to be wary in their religious expression. The billboard with the passage from Qur'an 4:171 reads:

"O people of the Scripture (Christians)! Do not exceed the limits of your religion. Say nothing but the truth about Allah (The One True God). The Christ Jesus, Son of Mary, was only a Messenger of God and His word conveyed to Mary and a spirit created by Him. So believe in God and His messengers and do not say: 'Three gods (trinity)'. Cease! It will be better for you. Indeed, Allah is the One and the Only God. His Holiness is far above having a son."
