WTC7 was a poorly designed building that was literally built on top of a huge electrical substation. It boggles my mind how any such thing could be approved. But I guess if you pay off enough NYC politicians, anything is possible.

The tower that was on top of one of the main WTC buildings collapsed and fell directly onto WTC7, massively damaging the support trusses. Fires then lead to more damage and more stress put on the remaining support beams.
