Of course it is paid by the public.

If you could buy an imported product for $100 and the American made products costs $150 a tariff of $75 dollars on that product just cost you the consumer an extra $50

Now if that made in America product uses parts manufactured overseas( and almost every product does) then their production costs just went up so now the have to sell that product to you for $160.

The consumer always pays the tariff
