I just turned 70 and can honestly say most people mistakenly think our country (and our lives) will either improve or degrade depending on which political party is on power - - It won't!

We live in the richest country in all of human history, with opportunities undreamed of just 20 years ago, yet many people (both liberal and conservative) believe their futures are linked to politics. Most of us have the opportunity to work an extra job to supplement a savings plan that will grow their nest egg, read books that will open their eyes to new opportunities, exercise and make smart food choices to maintain their health (it doesn't cost much to walk or run) start a part time business, and stop buying those flashy, trendy toys that drain their resources

You don't need to be a workaholic, but those who get ahead keep working consistently, save at least 10% of their income, take advantage of the opportunities in front of them, and don't look for a political savior.

And, if the party in charge allows your opportunities to be sent overseas in search of cheap labor? Or, allows illegal aliens into the US to lower your wages? Then what?

Baloney. The current Gestapo regime proves you wrong.

All above comments make good points. Politics is how things get done that we as individuals cannot do alone. It gets messy but it is a necessary profession. I have always going back to a young boy found it interesting. :soapbox:

Baloney.

The American dream is practically gone for most Americans.

My grandfather’s generation could get a nice job with just a high school diploma, get married young, buy a house, raise a large family, buy vehicles, send all their kids to college, and live comfortably their entire lives without being in debt, all on one paycheck.

You honestly think young people today can do that? Even if they had a college degree?

The Boomer generation may be the worst. They pissed away the America they inherited by allowing communists to take over the universities and allow the Marxist and socialist agenda be propagated in our culture. They’d destroyed the American dream with mass immigration, which was supposed to make corporations more money and drive down prices of goods and services they provide. Instead the exact opposite happened. Everything is ten times more expensive than what it was before. They become much more concerned about not hurting peoples feelings than protecting their children’s future.

I am under no illusion President Trump is going to be able to fix over five decades of shit policies that have destroyed this country, but it is a move in the right direction. It will take decades to fix most likely.

This x 1,000,000,000

I'm an older gen X'er. Even I remember having difficulty getting a job in the 80's. The boomers had no problem getting good jobs right out of school when they left high school.

While there is some truth to that, Biden and the Democrats really destroyed our country in just four years.

I liked most of your comment, all true, except it does make a difference who wins in politics.

Republican or Democrat made no difference, that you are right about.

MAGA is not Democrat or Republican, we are MAGA. We are taking over the Republican party

Never have understood why when the political party that's in charge changes every 4 to 8 years,
That some how everything that go's wrong is the fault of just one party.
They all make mistakes. We should be looking at the whole dam bunch of politicians
