Haven't we moved out of The Middle Ages? Apparently not.

Two women accused of being sorcerers have been saved by police after they were about to be set alight by a mob in the Pacific state of Papua New Guinea.

This is another example of too much government intrusion. Now all sorcerers hands are tied because the ministry banned the use of assault magic against muggles.
